Galai Winery

Our Story

In 1996, Sigalit and Asaf Galai purchased the neglected, thorny, deserted land and with great intuition, perseverance and patience stewarded it towards growth. The boutique family winery was founded in 2002 and vigilantly produces a few thousand bottles of unique high-end wines through meticulous care, harvesting by hand, and paying close attention at every phase until the wine arrives in the hands of the consumer.

Our Wine

Wine grapes are sourced from choice plots, the first of which was planted in 2000, and the second in 2014, beside their home in Moshav Nir Akiva. The loess soil has hints of limestone and the Negev aridity benefits the vines, while cold winters and drastic temperature drops in summer months contribute to the high quality of the fruit, optimal ripening, and unique expression of the terroir.

Since the first harvest in 2002, the winery made red wines, most of which are blends of a variety of the vineyard’s grapes. In 2015, they began to produce white wine from black grapes, and in 2016 they added Rosé. In 2018, as they began to experiment with making white wines from their younger plots, they also began to make port. This outstanding boutique winery earns accolades and distinguished prizes in national and international competitions.

What to do

Guided tours, wine and cheese tastings, as well as social outings and special events all take place at the winery.
