Tour and wine tasting by appointment
Tzur Shezaf is a writer, journalist, social and environmental activist, vintner and winemaker. Tzur founded the Shezaf Vineyard in 2011 in Mivdad Ramon, a valley of orchards enveloped by vineyards and olive groves that form a green desert oasis in the upper Zin riverbed. Planted on 1,500 year-old ancient agricultural remains, grapes and olives are cultivated using both ancient and new methods, yielding fine olive oil and wine.
The vineyard is balanced – the vines and olive trees are not treated with pesticides and are nourished with organic compost. In the vineyard muscat canelli, malbec, syrah, cabernet franc, chenin blanc, and chardonnay are grown. Grapes are handpicked, spontaneously fermented using wild yeast and stored in previously used barrels. Most are completely untainted by additives other than grape juice and wild yeast, rarely adding bisulfide and tartaric acid to wines.
At the vineyard, guests can taste wine, and stay for the night in rammed-earth house, huts, or tents.
