Carmei Mevorach was planted in the summer of 2014 using pioneering methods for grape growing learned in leading international wine countries and adapted to Israel’s conditions. This innovative agricultural initiative, home to both a vineyard and high-end boutique winery, was founded by Nissim Sroussi who settled in Gush Katif, and then moved to Binyamin, until he finally returned south to Meitar. Nissim, a second-generation vintner, is a graduate of the Agricultural Faculty’s vineyard and ornamental plant track, has an MA from Ben-Gurion University in irrigation control and agricultural climate in accredited buildings, and an additional MA from BGU’s International School with a concentration in grape growing and winemaking.
In the vineyard 51 dunams of barbera, verdejo, zinfandel, malbec, marselan, syrah, pinot noir, cabernet franc, and chardonnay wine grapes grow using ancient ecological techniques that take into consideration the surrounding environs. The vineyard’s location is different from most known wine regions in the country, with a unique and advantageous climate for fine wine grapes to grow.
At the vineyard you can taste wine, and the location is well situated to enjoy local tourist attractions. Bridging between the varying wine routes in the area, the place offers its own touch of culture and leisure, inspired by love of the land, people, and Jewish patriotism that pursues developing the land of Israel beneath the grapevines and fig trees.
